چکیده
Periods of rational polygons. A rational polygon P is a polygon in the plane, all of whose vertices have rational coordinates. If we dilate the polygon P by an integer k, the dilated polygon is written as kP. It is a theorem that the number of integer points in the plane (a, b) ∈ Z2, which are contained in kP, is given by a quasi-polynomial function of k. That is, |Z2 ∩ kP| = area(P)k2 + a1(k)k + a0(k), where a1(k) and a0(k) are periodic functions of k.

Homology and Persistent Homology Bootcamp Notes Summer @ ICERM 2017
This bootcamp is intended to be a review session for the material covered in Week 1 of Summer@ICERM 2017. My goal is to clarify any confusing topics covered in Week 1 and to present the material in a way that connects all of the material into a full picture. If you have any questions about the material please feel free to email me at melissa [email protected]. Most of the exercises have been ta...
متن کاملComments on “Opportunities and Challenges in 21st Century Experimental Mathematical Computation: ICERM Workshop Report”
This document is an almost-verbatim conversion to LTEX and PDF of plain-text remarks distributed via e-mail to the ICERM report authors. However, to improve readability, I have dressed it up with color, live hyperlinks, and multiple fonts, and fixed my fumble-fingered typos. It is available at http://www.math.utah.edu/~beebe/icerm/ICERM-2014-NOTES.pdf. I have also given it a version number, sta...
متن کاملOpportunities and Challenges in 21st Century Experimental Mathematical Computation: ICERM Workshop Report
“Experimental mathematics” has emerged in the past 25 years or so to become a competitive paradigm for research in the mathematical sciences. A workshop held at the Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM), July 21–25, 2014, explored emerging challenges of experimental mathematics in the rapidly changing era of modern computer technology. This report summariz...
متن کاملOpportunities and Challenges in 21st Century Mathematical Computation: ICERM Workshop Report
Here we should distinguish “experimental mathematics” from “computational mathematics” and “numerical mathematics.” While there is no clear delineation, the latter two terms generally encompass computational methods for concrete applied mathematics and engineering applications, whereas “experimental mathematics” usually applies more specifically to computations that advance the state of the art...
متن کاملThe genus Helvella in Iran
This study is a review on the genus Helvella (Pezizales, Helvellaceae) in Iran. Study on samples deposited in Iran fungal herbarium along with the fresh materials collected by the author revealed that seven species of Helvella, H. acetabulum, H. atra, H. crispa, H. elastica, H. ephippium, H. lacunosa and H. leucopus (as H. monachella) have already been reported from Iran. Three other species vi...
